Mixed assemblage from silty matrix overlaying floor. Approximately 50 litres floated. Float contains predominately charred wood, un-charred wood and a few seed remains.
Charred wood is dominated by cf. Fraxinus followed by Salicaceae and cf. Acer. Fragments of cf. Prunus, cf. Maliodeae, and cf. Pinus are also present.
Seeds include Triticum, Secale and Hordeum along with Coylus avellana, cf. Olea or cf. Cornelius (surface is smooth and morphology is long and thin with some dimples so may be Cornelius mas), Vitus and an unidentified legume and possible modern inclusions (most likely from excavation or flotation).
A considerable number of small twigs with bark (both burnt and unburnt) are also present. The sample represents an excellent find for 14C dating and taphonomic studies.
