Wall Locus:7685:042 is located directly below tile-grave II, i.e. Locus:7685:007 . Two to three stones are, currently, exposed. Wall Locus:7685:042 may be interpreted as the continuation of - the second phase of - wall Locus:7785:026 , in excavation unit 7785 (cf. Zusatzbild no. 14548).
2011 The previous interpretation, that wall Locus:7685:042 constituted part of wall Locus:7785:025 , has been falsified.
Wall Locus:7685:042 consisted of two fall faces. A wall fill had been placed in-between them. It had a length of c. 1.80 m and a width of c. 0.65 m. The exterior stones had a average size of c. 30 (l) x 25 (w) x 10 (t) (in cm). The wall fill was made of potsherds and small to medium or fist-sized stones.
Wall Locus:7685:042 might belong to architectural phase I of the south facade of the central building complex. Phase I is constituted by wall/pavement Locus:7685:145 , wall Locus:7685:038, wall Locus:7685:013 ,wall Locus:7685:100 , installation/pavement Locus:7685:132 and floor Locus:7685:149 .
The pottery collection from wall Locus:7685:142 , reportedly, yielded Iron Age pottery, which corresponds well with the (LBA/EIA transitional) date that has been assigned to floor Locus:7685:149 / Locus:7785:086 (see final report 2011 for more details).
