In this soil, the very top of the tunnel fill, many pottery finds were collected, as well as burnt mud brick fragments. This category consists of fragments of large and small pieces of burnt mud-brick but also small pieces of burnt mud. All are collected and need to be washed and inspected, since in 2011 a stamp-seal impression was found in a clay lump. It is however almost impossible to see this kind of impressions down in the tunnel.
There are many small fragments of animal bone and a concentration of fragments of a turtle’s shield. This concentration is high in the layer and represents probably a turtle that was dug in for the winter and didn’t wake up anymore. Also large numbers of snails are found complete or in fragments.
