Pit Locus:7685:054 is located adjecent to tomb Locus:7685:040 (west). Only part of it could be excavated, since it runs into the south baulk of excavation unit 7685.
Only a thin layer of earth was removed before reaching, what appears to be, a different surface (top of wall Locus:7685:083 ?).
The soil was greyish-brown in color. It contained some small stones, bits of chalk and pieces of (burnt) mud-brick. Only few pieces of pottery were found.
