Wall Locus:7685:083 is located in the southern half of excavation unit 7685. It was cut by pit Locus:7685:034 .
Wall Locus:7685:083 represents the youngest (umburnt) mud-brick wall in square 7685. It was dug through wall Locus:7685:038 , causing damage to the latter's plaster layer (wall Locus:7685:099 ). Furthermore, the erection of wall Locus:7685:083 disturbed (part of) wall Locus:7685:117 , which is located in front of wall Locus 7685:083 . In the original situation, the foundation stones of the latter were concealed by (the mud-brick super-structure of) wall Locus:7685:117 .
The height of the mud-brick super-structure measures c. 50 cm. So far, 1-2 courses of stone foundations have been exposed. They have a height of c. 20 cm.
Contrary to the mud-bricks used in (e.g.) wall Locus:7685:080 and wall Locus:7685:038 , it is very difficult, if not impossible, it seems, to discern individual mud-bricks along the outer (northern) face of wall Locus:7685:083 . A noteworthy feature, however, is the large number of white chalky inclusions, which, at least in the case of the other walls excavated in square 7685, seem to have been limited to the greyish and greenish-colored mud-bricks. The color of the mud-bricks used in wall Locus:7685:083 is greyish-yellow.
The (seemingly) different building style may be brought into connection with the relatively late date of wall Locus:7685:083 .
Preserved length:c. 4.00 m Width: c. 70 cm
