Locus 19 represents the continuation of Locus:7784:018 . The change of Locus was motivated by the fact that we might be dealing with a pit or multiple-layered garbage area here. This idea was prompted by the presence of at least two, seemingly, intact, but smashed, vases, as well as the remains of a third one.
The first vessel (Fund:7784:019:001 ) appears to be lying on top of floor Locus:7784:016. The second vessel (Fund:7784:019:002 ) was sealed off by the harder material - at least when compared to Locus:7784:015 - characterizing Locus:7784:018 , which may originally have belonged to floor Locus:7784:016 , thus indicating that Fund:7784:019:002 could be attributed to an earlier phase of the tower-room.
In any case, a puzzling feature of Locus 19 (as well as Locus 18) is the, seemingly, clearly demarcated hard red material occupying the southeast corner of the tower-room. Its appearance - and location - are reminiscent of Locus:7784:013 (i.e. on the opposite side of wall Locus:7784:025 ).
25.09.10 After having removed Fund:7784:019:001 it became clear that Locus:7784:019 actually constitutes part of the tower-room floor (cf. final report Area 3 by J. Eerbeek). A relation with pit Locus:7784:020 could not be established. Fund:7784:019:002 was re-assigned to Locus:7784:020 .
